Backstage at Georges Hobeika

DSC_2079-©ParisEverAfter-x2000Whenever a new season of Paris fashion week is coming up, I’m usually preparing for a pretty intense week. One of the most exciting opportunities is always the chance to photograph backstage. Shooting behind-the-scenes is such a different experience compared to shooting runway. The atmosphere is a jumble of excitement and chaos as models are rushed through hair and makeup and first looks are assembled. With so many people buzzing around backstage, I sometimes wonder how it all comes together in the end.

Usually I try to arrive at least an hour ahead of show-time and the prep work is already in full swing. While everyone is clamoring inside to find a good point of view to shoot the runway, I actually prefer backstage photography. For me, it’s often a chance to be more creative and get a closer look at the latest collection. During the last Haute Couture season, I was thrilled to shoot backstage at the Georges Hobeika Fall/Winter 2016 show. The details on each dress, intricate beading and embroidery, were incredible to see up-close, something you can’t always see from the runway. A truly beautiful collection, this was probably one of my favorite shows yet to have shot! Take a look and you’ll see why…
