Jardin Suspendu

Paris has always been a city for art and artists, and sometimes it’s nice to spend a day browsing some of the many galleries throughout the city. Particularly in le Marais, there is no shortage of beautiful gallery spaces to see, many of which I’ve come across by pure chance just strolling the city streets.DSC_2693-©BrandieRaasch-x1124DSC_2757-©BrandieRaasch-x1500Recently, on a day out running errands and browsing boutiques, I came across Galerie Azzedine Alaïa, so I had a look inside at the current installation, Jardin Suspendu or “hanging garden” by American artist Kris Ruhs. Under a glass ceiling, structures nearly as high are placed with a total of 45,000 handmade pieces hanging down to the ground.DSC_2742-©BrandieRaasch-x1124DSC_2743-©BrandieRaasch-x1500DSC_2755-©BrandieRaasch-x1124DSC_2695-©BrandieRaasch-x1500The gilded walls, covered in these same pieces, surrounds the gallery space.DSC_2706-2-©BrandieRaasch-x1500The installation creates a sort of luminous effect, making the environment feel light and bright. I found it to be quite enchanting; a dreamlike, otherworldly atmosphere.DSC_2759-©BrandieRaasch-x1124DSC_2712-©BrandieRaasch-x1500If you’re in the area I recommend passing by to see this beautiful display. The installation will be at Galerie Azzedine Alaïa until 27 December 2015.
